FAQ
While we use a preschool curriculum in our older classrooms, we call ourself a child care center because of our non-traditional hours and all-day format. A typical preschool has morning and afternoon sessions and is not open all day.
In accordance with the Utah State licensing standards staff in child care/preschool must be 18, be high school graduates and take 20 hours of training annually. In addition to this, our program follows NAEYC standards for hiring which is assistant teachers either are working on a degree, have an AA or Child Development Associate. Our teachers either have or are working on degrees in a child related field. All of our staff must have previous experience working with children. Visit our Staff Bios page to learn more about staff qualifications.
We do not have a traditional waiting list. We are a program for students so we enroll children each semester according to the student parent's class schedule. If we cannot accommodate your requested schedule, you may choose to be placed on a 'list' for a spot that may become available later in the semester. Check for current openings. We may also direct you to the Student Parent Support Center where they will try to help you find another option for immediate care.
Even in your child's absence, we still have to staff as though your child is attending, and because we are still holding the spot for your child whether or not they attend. There are no deductions in tuition for vacations or illness absences.
We understand that class schedules can change, and we will accommodate those changes pending availability and the Director’s approval. All changes to your schedule shall be submitted on the “Schedule Change Request” form and (if approved by the director) will become an amendment to your Service Agreement. Also, please note that after the first schedule change, all subsequent changes will be subject to a $20 fee.
Extended hours may be available upon request and pending the Director’s approval, however 24 hour notice is required. We ask that you refrain from requesting hours on the day you need them, or on a regular basis to respect our need to accommodate them with staffing. In the event a family is utilizing extended hours too frequently, it will be at the program’s discretion to not accommodate those requests. Any extended hours will be charged your hourly rate, and be added to your ledger to be reflected in your overall tuition payments.
